What kind of fish are in Lake Tawakoni?

Lake Tawakoni is famous for Trophy Blue Catfish from November to April each year.  Anglers travel from all over the world to catch a sixty-plus pound Blue Catfish on a rod and reel.  Here are the current Lake Tawakoni fishing records.

Why Fish Lake Tawakoni?

Lake Tawakoni has a great eater Blue Catfish and Channel Catfish season and this trifecta makes this East Texas reservoir the Catfish Capital of Texas.  We catch a lot of Striper, White Bass, and Hybrid Striper during our catfishing seasons.  Lake Tawakoni hybrid fishing is considered the best in the Southwest.  If you like to catch Crappie, Lake Tawakoni is very good and not much angling pressure.  A solid Largemouth fishery can be found on Lake Tawakoni as well.  Follow Lake Tawakoni Fish Species for more information.

Lake Tawakoni Fishing Spots

It’s not just about finding the good fishing spots on Lake Tawakoni! If it were that easy more folks would be Lake Tawakoni Fishing Guides. Our day starts very early, searching for live-bait. Fresh Gizzard Shad are the key to catching a Lake Tawakoni Trophy Blue Catfish. Rarely do we use frozen shad. Fresh cut Gizzard Shad catch more fish. Once we have enough shad for the day, its back to the marina to meet our clients.

Winter Blue Catfishing Trips will be more like hunting than Summer outings. Winter Blue Catfish is not easy and can take some time to locate the big schools of shad. Blue Catfish will move all winter long following big schools of shad.

Lake Tawakoni Catfishing-Drifting Bait

Drifting fresh cut gizzard shad will be the primary tactic used to find trophy Blue Catfish all winter. Summer catfishing on Lake Tawakoni will consist of anchoring up on baited holes. We enjoy Trophy Blue Catfish Trips and Eater Trips. Both seasons offer exciting action you and your family will enjoy.  Follow Lake Tawakoni Catfish Tips for more information.
